Travel Tips for Sports Fans
If you are passionate about a particular sport, chances are you would be more than willing to travel anywhere in the world to watch all the important fights or matches. Whether you are a football fan or a kickboxing enthusiast, you need to be prepared for every possible scenario you might encounter at the actual venue or along the way.
After securing those coveted tickets and booking your flight, do some research on your destination. Aside from learning about your accommodation, transportation and dining options, know the numbers and locations of public service facilities like the nearest hospital or law enforcement headquarters. Being informed will enable you to make sound decisions when you are confronted with an emergency.
Schedule a trip to your physician a month before your departure. By doing so, you can be sure that you are fit enough to travel. This will also be a good opportunity to get those much-needed vaccines, especially if you are going to malaria-prone areas.
If you expect to spend a lot of time outdoors, like in a tennis court or rugby stadium, bring along some insect repellent. Remember to put an ample amount of sunscreen before going out in the sun. Keep sunglasses, some head gear, and a bottle of water handy. Pack a raincoat or umbrella if you will be travelling during the rainy season.
Capture every bit of the action by bringing along a camcorder or a digital camera. However, you need to make sure that you store your gadgets safely to prevent them from being stolen. Avoid bringing all of them to a match at the same time.
