TRAINEE solicitor Suzi Wylie is hoping to lay down the law when she flies out to Thailand in October.
Wylie, 32, will fight for a second time in the Far East as she looks to enhance her growing reputation as a future national Thai-boxing champion.
Two years ago, she enjoyed a winning debut in the sport’s homeland and now she can’t wait to return.
The former Easingwold School pupil said: “I’m looking forward to training with the Thais again because it’s unbelievable what you learn from them.
“The fight will also be good experience and will help as I try to keep building up my CV.”
Wylie, who trains at the York Gymnastics Club-based Life Thai Boxing Camp, has already taken on the top three female fighters in Britain even though she was only introduced to the martial art in 2007.
She said: “I tried kick-boxing and ju-jitsu but I never really found a martial art I was into until Thai-boxing.
“I like the fighting side and I want to go as far as I can in the sport.
“I’ve got a bout in Luton before I go to Thailand and then I’d like to aim for a few title fights when I come back home.”
Wylie’s trainer, Andy Wilby, helped Neil Thompson become a British champion and also guided Claire Johnson and Gary Watkinson to European Championship medal success.
He believes, however, that his latest star pupil can eclipse those achievements, saying: “She’s an awesome fighter and it’s just a matter of her gaining more experience now.
“She’s gone the distance with the top three girls in the country and, even though she lost, that shows just how good she is just two years down the line.
“She is as good as any fighter I have worked with and I have been teaching Thai-boxing for 18 years.”
Dave Harrop who trains at The UK Martial Arts Acadamy in Winsford, Cheshire said:
