DAMAGE WITH OUT A MOUTHGUARD OR LOW QUALITY GUARD

Damaged teeth are unable to repair themselves, unlike a broken leg or arm. There are two types of blow which can not only cause permanent damage to your teeth, but other serious head related injuries. These are direct and indirect blows.
1.Direct

A direct severe blow to face can result in serious trauma such as concussion, broken teeth, gum damage, or a broken jaw

2.Indirect

A blow to the lower jaw pushes the lower teeth upwards, bringing them into contact with the upper teeth. Significant damage can be incurred, spreading to other teeth and jaw. Energy from the blow is transferred though the entire biting plane. Concussion is also a common condition resulting from an indirect blow to the jaw.

Concussion

A direct or indirect blow to the skull can result in concussion. A sudden and temporary impairment of brain function, resulting in a short loss of consciousness or disturbance of vision and balance.

All of these are more likely to occur if you are not wearing a custom fitted mouth guard like a kombat mouthguard
